Charlie is a passionate, sensually inspired art student, desperately seeking an escape from an abusive past that haunts her and a tragic accident that emptied her heart. Scarred and unable to love, her yearning for physical pleasure and contact leads her into a tantalizing, dangerous world of power and seduction. The anonymity of the deal offers security, the money provides financial freedom, and the madam’s authority is the mother figure she longs for.

But the thrill of the mansion and its arousing dominance quickly fades when she meets the renowned yet mysterious Cameron Hardy, whose intense, baby blue eyes send a nervous flutter through her core. He’s sexy, and not in a subtle way. Cameron stimulates her art, intellect and desires. Just as he begins to break through her emotional boundaries, Charlie discovers a devastating connection between her past and her scandalous work at the mansion, shattering everything she thought to be true.

Provocative, intoxicating and erotic, Seductive Shadows, is the unforgettable tale of a young woman’s discovery as she learns to forgive, to love and be loved, and to find redemption amidst a memorable journey that will captivate your mind and stimulate your soul.

This book is for mature audiences 17+.  It contains explicit language and sexual content.

My Review

Seductive Shadows was such a great read, I really liked this book! It was dark and gritty, with a sensuality that demands you to keep reading. I love reading stories about real life, fucked up people and this book gave me just that! Seductive Shadows isn't like other erotic novels, there is sex but it's not in the forefront of the plot. The sexual encounters are just an added bonus.

Charlie struggles with a darkness in her life that has her seeking solace in painting and sex. You can relate to her pain and struggles. You find yourself questioning the decisions she made and can understand why she made them. Mann slowly unfolds Charlies past and present making you feel her pain and numbness. Mann's writing is perfect!

I love the introduction of Cameron's character, it added the lightness that this book needed. He is sexy and confident, with baby blues that could kill. He never pushes Charlie for more than she is willing to give. My only complaint about this book, is that I wish it were longer. I felt like Cameron and Charlie's relationship was rushed. I wanted more interaction between them. I felt the attraction and bond that was building but wasn't necessarily fully in love with them. With that being said, I love that they were able to find someone equally as damaged and were able to bond over their love for art.

As the plot unfolds at the end, I found myself not wanting the story to end! If this book is a good indication of Mann's writing, she has a new fan. I totally loved this book, and still feel that my review doesn't do justice for the book. I highly recommend this book!

EXCERPT

I don’t know how long it lasted, but it was definitely at least a few minutes before we broke, both coming up panting wildly for air and smiling. He leaned down so that his face was in my neck and lifted me up off the ground for a hug. His arms wrapped so tightly around me that it was difficult to breathe, but I didn’t care. The warmth of his breath so close to my ear coupled with the quiet sound of his uncontrolled growl sent a shiver from the tip of my toes straight through to the swell growing between my legs.

When he finally put me down, we found my three friends watching intently. For a few minutes I had completely forgotten there was anyone else in the room but us. I looked up, embarrassed, to find Sienna was smiling like an idiot. Kyle looked intrigued at my reaction, and Justin was glaring at us.

Kyle smiled kindly as he spoke. “I hope this is your boyfriend, Syd?”

“Sorry, yes, this is Jack. I had no idea he was coming.” I stared up at Jack, smiling excitedly. “I can’t believe you’re really here!”

Jack pulled me possessively to his side, his arm wrapped tightly around my waist as he spoke. He extended his free hand to Kyle. “Jack Cole.”

Kyle nodded and smiled back. “Kyle Smith. Good to meet you, man.”

Jack leaned down to Sienna and kissed her on the cheek, whispering something into her ear that made her smile and giggle.

Then he looked to Justin and extended his hand. Justin took a second too long before taking Jack’s hand. “Justin Smith.”

Jack nodded and I watched, noticing his reaction was different to Justin than to Kyle. Something passed between them unspoken. Not good.

Redesigned Blog Tour and Giveaway!!

While fashion design major Caroline Hunter may have been born economically unlucky, in college, she’s been lucky in love. Until her senior year at Southern University. She’s gone from a serious long term boyfriend to a string of crappy dates.

Then she meets mathematics grad student Reed Pendergraft.

Reed is everything she’s not looking for. Serious. Headed for a low paying university job. Boring. Caroline spent the first eighteen years of her life wondering where her next meal was coming from. She sure wasn’t getting trapped in that life again with a man living on a professor’s salary.

An encounter with Reed in a club proves she might have pegged him wrong. He brings out a lusty side she never knew she had. But just when she’s about to give in to her hormones, Reed makes a fool out of her.

When she shows up for the first committee meeting for Southern University’s Fall fashion show, a fundraiser for underprivileged kids, Caroline’s horrified to discover the insufferable Reed is the committee chairman. While she refuses to tolerate his totalitarian rule of the committee, she’s not sure she’ll survive the month with her heart—and her pride—intact. Just when she thinks she has everything figured out, she finds that her entire life has been redesigned, thanks to Reed Pendergraft.

My Review:
Redesigned was an excellent read, and I'm happy to say that it has been my favorite of Swank's thus far. I really liked the chemistry between Reed and Caroline. I love that "I-hate-you-but-I-want-you" tension between them in the beginning, and the heart stopping angst towards the end. I think I can really relate to Caroline, because she is strong and determined to make a better world for herself. She seems superficial to start, but once you read her story, you get it.

I really loved Reeds character as well. He seems a bit harsh in the beginning, a bit of an alpha male, but once you get to know him you understand him as well. I love that he's a bit of a nerd but with a sexy dominant swag about him. Mix in some side characters, some super smexy scenes, and a runway show and you get the perfect romance: Redesigned.

The thing I like the most about this book, is that it makes you think about real life issues. I read to get away, but sometimes I get lost in that fictional fantasy. Redesigned, gives you that fantasy, but adds in a relatable, real life problem, which is childhood poverty. When you finish reading, not only are you happy with the story, but you want to go through your closet and donate to the less privileged. And that I think is the true beauty of this book.

Overall, I would definitely recommend reading Redesigned! It was totally a great, steamy, romance! P.S. If you haven't read After Math, it is the first book in this series, but I don't think you need to read it to understand Redesigned.

Good Vibrations Blog Tour and Giveaway!!

Title: Good Vibrations (Welcome to Paradise, #1)
Author: S. L. Scott
Release date: June 10, 2013
Age Group: New Adult
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Tour organized by: AToMR Tours

I grab her exploring finger just as it reaches my happy trail—a trail that if I let her wander down further will lead us to do things we can’t take back. Things like three-word phrases being confessed that would end me if I was rejected. Things like selfishly wanting to own her body and doing things to her that would make my fantasies blush. And things like making her promises too soon that won’t do either of us any good. She makes me want a future that’s not possible, and one I don’t deserve.

Listening to my ego got me into this situation. Will listening to my heart get me out?

My Review

There were definitely some good things going on in this book. It's a sexy, fun read! The setting was great! I loved the beach and the sandbar party. Scott's writing was quirky and fun to read. I loved the Duel POV! The sex scenes were butterfly inducing and super steamy!

My problem with this book started with the first chapter. Evan and Mallory meet at the airport when he's shipping of some summer fling, while winking at her over the girl's shoulder.

Mallory then admonishes him over dinner. He reveals that he's a manwhore and it was love(sex) at first sight after that?! I just can't put myself in her shoes. Yes he's hot, but really? Other than that, there was a back and forth of insecurity and denial, that resulted in the couple breaking up every other day.

The ending left me unsatisfied too, it's not really cliffy but I didn't really feel that there was a resolution to their story. Overall, I liked this book and would read the next in this series. I am interested in where Evan and Mallory end up!
